In a significant step towards bridging the gap between legal education and practical experience, students of Manu Law College, Nichlaul, participated in an educational visit to the District Jail, Maharajganj as part of their Summer Internship Program. The visit was organized with the support and cooperation of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Maharajganj.
During the visit, students were introduced to the functioning of the prison administration and were provided with detailed insights into various aspects of the criminal justice system. Officials explained the rights of inmates, legal aid mechanisms, correctional programs, rehabilitation initiatives, and the role of prisons in the justice delivery process.
The students closely observed various facilities and arrangements within the prison and learned about the efforts undertaken for the welfare, reform, and reintegration of inmates into society. Officials emphasized that modern correctional institutions serve not only as places of confinement but also as centers for rehabilitation, skill development, and social reintegration.
Representatives of the District Legal Services Authority also briefed students about the importance of free legal aid, legal awareness, and the various schemes implemented to ensure equal access to justice for all sections of society.
The participants described the visit as an enriching learning experience that enhanced their understanding of criminal law, prison administration, and legal aid services. The educational tour successfully provided students with firsthand exposure to the practical functioning of the justice system and strengthened their legal awareness, professional understanding, and social sensitivity.
