Bar Council of India Circular on Responsible Use of Social Media
Manu Law College hereby shares the official Bar Council of India (BCI) Circular No. BCI:D:4657/2026 dated 17 July 2026 regarding the responsible use of social media by Advocates, Law Students, Interns and Centres of Legal Education.
The circular provides comprehensive guidelines to promote professional ethics, digital responsibility, confidentiality, respect for judicial institutions, and responsible legal communication on social media platforms. It also advises against creating or sharing misleading, sensational, defamatory or promotional legal content that may undermine the dignity of the legal profession or the administration of justice.
The Bar Council of India further encourages all law students, interns and legal institutions to adopt ethical digital practices, respect professional confidentiality and use social media responsibly while contributing to legal awareness and education.
